THE GREAT OCEAN WALK (GOW)

The Great Ocean Walk (GOW) is a 104.3km walking track running along coastal Victoria from Apollo Bay to the 12 Appostles. The route is extreamly popular and has you walking through some of the most beautiful coast of southern Australia. 

This track is well sign posted and has 6 designated camping grounds for walkers along the way. These need to be book at least two weeks before your walk and in July 2017 cost us approx $35 per campsite per night for 2 people. This totaled around $220 for two people for one night at each site. 

We have prepared a Gear List and a Menu and Food List for this walk. We are using this 7 day hike as a test run for our 2 month long Australian Alpine Walk at the end of the year.

This was such an incredible trip to do, such beautiful scenery both of the coast line and of the the inland forests. We would both highly recommend anyone who is looking for an enjoyable hike to do a sections of this walk. Some sections of the walk were more physically demanding than others.
